Roust Element sees early signs of recovery after challenging years

After a year marked by project clean-up efforts and a negative financial result, the Southwest Jutland-based element manufacturer Roust Element is now focusing on stronger processes and a more structured market approach aimed at rebuilding solid profitability.

Roust Element, which is part of the Nordic Wood Industries Group, has just published its 2025 annual report, showing revenue of DKK 183 million and a net loss of DKK 21 million. This corresponds to a halving of the deficit compared to 2024. The result is still impacted by challenges from previous years, where a number of projects proved to be more complex and less profitable than originally anticipated.

According to Group CEO of Nordic Wood Industries, Holger C. Hansen, 2025 has largely been a year of restructuring and clean-up within the company.

“It has been a major and necessary clean-up effort. We had projects that were simply not suited to Roust Element’s setup, and that affected both the financial results and the organization well into 2025. It has taken considerable time to close down those projects properly, but that work has been essential in putting us in a stronger position today,” he says.

At the same time, he emphasizes that the owners have provided strong support for the company throughout the process:

“In 2025, we completed two capital increases, with the owners injecting a total of DKK 35 million into Roust Element. That is a clear signal that we believe in the business and the potential ahead of us – and we are already seeing encouraging signs during the first quarter of 2026,” says Holger C. Hansen.

New management and a new foundation

At the beginning of 2026, Roust Element appointed a new CEO, Kasper Bregendahl, who succeeded interim CEO Steffen Kremmer, who had led the company through the initial stabilization phase.

With the new management team, systematic work has also been carried out to strengthen the organization, processes, and project management.

“2025 has been an intense year. We have taken responsibility for the mistakes that were made and cleaned things up. For me, the focus is now on looking ahead. We have completed the projects that placed significant strain on our internal resources and ensured that customers were treated properly throughout the process. Now the focus is on optimizing our processes and systems so we can once again become a profitable business serving a growing market,” says CEO Kasper Bregendahl.

A key focus has been ensuring that the company only takes on projects that match its competencies within timber-based element solutions going forward.

“Moving forward, the projects we say yes to must be the right ones – both for us and for the customer. That also means that today we decline projects that are not suitable or financially viable. We want to grow – but we want to do so in a controlled and responsible way,” says Kasper Bregendahl about the new direction for Roust Element.

Stable progress and positive expectations for 2026

Although 2025 overall ended with a loss, developments in 2026 point in a more stable direction. Roust Element still has work ahead, but at present the company is focused on developing and strengthening the business.

“The future looks brighter, and the most important thing for us right now is doing things the right way. We are taking one step at a time and rebuilding a healthy business with the right projects and the right partnerships. That is how we create a company that is sustainable in the long term. And with the acquisition of HusCompagniet’s element production, we are standing stronger with skilled people, valuable competencies, and new technology, where the acquired operations are already highly advanced in terms of factory automation,” concludes Kasper Bregendahl.

At the same time, Roust Element is facing a number of strategic initiatives intended to support the company’s continued development. These include efforts related to digitalization and the implementation of new ERP systems.
